    The Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) and the Department of Comparative Pathobiology (CPB) at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine invite applications for a diagnostic veterinary anatomic pathologist position. This is a 12-month, clinical or tenure track appointment at the assistant professor rank, depending on the interest and qualifications of the applicant. Requirements include a DVM (or equivalent degree), board certification (or eligibility) by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP or ECVP). A PhD degree in veterinary pathology or a related field is required for tenure track appointment. An advanced academic degree (MS/PhD) is desirable for the clinical track appointment. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills are essential.

    Whether clinical track or tenure track, the successful applicant must have a strong commitment to providing outstanding diagnostic service for ADDL clients. Responsibilities will include participating in necropsy and biopsy diagnostic services, including mentoring and training residents and teaching DVM and veterinary technology students. A requirement of this position is sustainable interest in production animal diagnostics, including outreach and communications to this sector of the ADDL clientele.

    Scholarly activities are expected: the successful tenure track applicant will be expected to develop and sustain a funded research program in their area of interest. Successful clinical track applicants will be expected to participate in collaborative research activities, continuing education/outreach activities to ADDL constituencies, and presentations at local, regional and national meetings.

    CPB has 38 faculty members, 11 of whom have diagnostic service appointments in the ADDL. Faculty have expertise and research interests in microbiology, virology, immunology, toxicology, parasitology, pathology, public health, epidemiology, human-animal interaction, and animal welfare science.

    Commitment to the ADDL mission of providing quality and timely diagnostic services to Indiana animal constituencies, as well as the CPB missions of discovery, learning, and engagement and the support of the College strategic plan ( are required. The successful candidate is expected to promote an atmosphere of cultural diversity in the College and participate in College activities that foster inclusion.
