Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Equine Medicine (Tenure Track)

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine at LSU is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty in equine medicine. Teaching responsibilities will include veterinary students and equine house officers in clinics and classroom. The successful candidate will have a concurrent appointment to professional staff of the VTH and be responsible for work-up of in-hospital and ambulatory (community practice) general and advanced medicine cases. This candidate will be expected to do original and collaborative research and contribute to the scholarly activity within the department.

The successful candidate will join a team of equine medicine faculty and contribute to the department's goals through participation in didactic and tutorial instruction in equine medicine. The successful candidate will participate in work-up of general and advanced medicine cases and provide medical care and consult and cooperate with other clinical faculty in clinical equine teaching and hospital practice, as well as support the emergency duty clinicians through provision or supervision.

The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the ambulatory service (community practice) and provide work-up of general and advanced medicine cases, provide specialized medical care to local practices, farms and race tracks working with local veterinarians. This position will also support the ambulatory emergency service by provision or supervision.

A successful candidate will actively participate in original and collaborative research and provide residency training, continuing education, and public relations within the Equine Health Studies Program at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.
The EHSP’s primary mission is to provide general and advanced medical care and through discovery and disseminate that state-of-the-art information to the stakeholders State of Louisiana and surrounding region.

The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in academic governance within the College of Veterinary Medicine, including committees and other academic endeavors as time permits. Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
DVM and completion of an ACVIM approved residency in equine medicine. Board eligibility or certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM ) and successful completion of a residency training program by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM )

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. and 3-4 years’ experience in clinical practice, investigation and collaborative research. At least 3-4 years’ experience in didactic teaching of veterinary students.

Special or Physical Qualifications
Per PS-18, employee may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure.
