The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) seeks to fill a tenure-track, full-time, 12-month position within the Equine Internal Medicine section of its Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The position is offered at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, depending upon qualifications, and is available immediately. The position will join a team whose primary mission is didactic and clinical teaching, clinical service and scholarship.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful applicants will have responsibility for participation in clinical, laboratory, and didactic (classroom) teaching of professional veterinary students, interns, residents, and graduate students; will provide health care and service to patients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital; will advise and consult with referring veterinarians and clients; will develop a creative, independent/collaborative, basic and/or clinically-oriented research program in Equine Internal Medicine; and will provide leadership in directing research projects of residents and graduate students. Successful applicants must be able to effectively communicate, work collegially, and collaborate with diverse internal and external constituencies. The Equine Section is aiming to increase its expertise and prominence in sports medicine and rehabilitation and candidates are encouraged to emphasize their interest and experience in this field.

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree (such as BVSc), have completed an approved Large Animal Internal Medicine residency and be board eligible before date of hire. Candidates for Associate Professor must have served at least 6 years as an assistant professor or equivalent by the hire date.

Preferred qualifications include ACVIM board certification (LAIM), with evidence of scholarly productivity and teaching, and potential for obtaining extramural funding.

Level of position hired is dependent upon the level of experience the final candidate has in the specialty area.
