Applications are invited for a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor in Beef Cattle Welfare and Behaviour at the University of Saskatchewan to commence July 1, 2017 or when a successful candidate is available. Applicants should have at minimum a PhD in the field of applied ethology or related discipline with an interest in beef cattle welfare, behavior and production. Candidates with a degree in veterinary medicine would be considered as preferred candidates. Demonstrated experience in ruminant welfare, health, nutrition, housing and management and industry liaison will be considered an asset. Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, interpersonal and leadership skills, and an ability to engage with the students, industry and the public.

The successful candidate will be required to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in their field of expertise and therefore strong teaching skills will be considered as essential for this position. The program will interact with others in the department, in the Department of Animal Science and at the Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence and across campus to foster a strong multi-species approach to animal welfare.

The successful candidate will develop and lead a recognized research program in cattle welfare, develop graduate level courses in animal behaviour and welfare, train undergraduates and graduate students, and engage in industry liaison and knowledge transfer.

Salary ranges: Assistant Professor $93,293-$112,109; Associate Professor $112,109 – $130,295; Full Professor $130,925 – $152,866.
