The Department of Veterinary Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants for a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track position in veterinary anatomic pathology. Applications are being accepted at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The department has key responsibilities in diagnostic pathology services, research and teaching. It provides diagnostic services to the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center and practicing veterinarians across the country. Position responsibilities include participation in diagnostic anatomic pathology services (20-40%), research (40-60%), and teaching professional DVM and graduate student courses (15%); and institutional services (5%). Percentages are somewhat flexible, depending on candidate’s expertise and departmental needs. Current departmental research interests include animal models of human disease, infectious diseases with an emphasis on enteric diseases, host-pathogen interactions, parasitic diseases, neurodegenerative and prion-associated disease, and immunopathology. The successful candidate should have a record of rigorous training and experience in diagnostic pathology and hypothesis driven research, including prior grant writing experience

Required Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree, graduate degree in a discipline relevant to pathology, experience in diagnostic pathology and completion of requirements to sit Phase II of the ACVP examination in Anatomic Pathology. In addition, at the level of Associate Professor the following is also required: ACVP board certification in Anatomic Pathology, a documented record of productive scholarship, solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and a record of successful didactic teaching and pathology resident training.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD or equivalent degree in a discipline relevant to pathology, ACVP board certification in Anatomic Pathology, research expertise in an area compatible with departmental interests, and a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited university. In addition, at the level of Associate Professor the following is also preferred: 5-6 years experience in diagnostic pathology or sustained extramural grant support for a research focus area.
