    Faculty Position in Large Animal Surgery


    The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Section of Large Animal Surgery. The collective goals of the Section include providing excellent surgical services in the Equine and Nemo Farm Animal Hospital, supporting robust pre-clinical and clinical research programs, and maintaining strong teaching and outreach programs. The successful candidate will join six board-certified surgeons supported by five experienced licensed veterinary technicians and three surgery residents. The Equine and Nemo Farm Animal Hospital is a state-of-the art teaching and referral hospital, equipped with a comprehensive range of therapeutic and diagnostic equipment. The residency program is broad-based, encompassing both equine and farm animal cases.


    Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and be board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. An interest in soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and lameness is desirable. The successful candidate should have demonstrated aptitude for clinical, translational, and/or basic science research. The candidate should exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and a cooperative work ethic that will interact well with all sections of the hospital. Clinical duties will require flexible working hours that may include daytime, evening, and weekend responsibilities. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop caseload by reaching out to referring veterinarians and clients and building those connections.

    Distribution of effort in the section and department will be determined in accordance with the service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s academic goals and expertise and will include a significant clinical service appointment (50%). Rank, title, and salary, will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
