The position is defined as approximately 30% teaching and approximately 70% research.
The teaching responsibility includes teaching and directing the 3 credit hour Veterinary Virology course in the Professional Veterinary Medicine curriculum. The successful candidate will seek to excel in his/her teaching and will interact closely and effectively with other teaching faculty in the Department and be actively involved in the Department’s collaborative teaching efforts. The latter include small group, case-based learning exercises, that are offered two times per year and VPa 501, an independent study course by which new departmental teaching cases are developed each year.
At the College level, the faculty member will actively participate in discussions of curriculum and outcomes, the development of innovative teaching approaches and other teaching related matters that arise.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a productive, extramurally funded research program in the area of Virology or Viral Immunology and to establish effective collaborations with current WSU programs.
As a faculty member, the successful candidate will be expected to become and remain active in the Department’s graduate program, including mentoring graduate students and serving as a member of student advisory committees.
