The University of Adelaide has established South Australia’s first Vet School, at its historic Roseworthy Campus. The Vet School’s new facilities house the teaching laboratories for preclinical and clinical skills training.
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital will open in 2010, ready for students as they enter their clinical years.
The campus is located on a 1,600 ha property which includes a working farm. The rural setting allows excellent access to large animal species, as well as a full service teaching hospital and ambulatory clinic.
The first intake of students in the University's three-year B.Sc. Pre-veterinary Degree were enrolled in 2008 and, from 2011, there will be continuing places every year for the 3 year Postgraduate Veterinary Science Degree.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of our Animal and Veterinary Sciences School and offers the chance to grow your own research program, while shaping the future of teaching at the School.
We are seeking a Veterinarian or Animal Physiologist with a higher degree in Veterinary Physiology or a related discipline to work collaboratively, as a member of teaching and research teams, based at the Roseworthy campus which lies to the north of Adelaide city and is approximately a 50 minute drive from the city or a 25 minute drive from the Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s premier wine growing areas.
You should have:
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, as a member of teaching and research teams.
• Ability to lecture and conduct tutorials and assessments at undergraduate levels.
• Potential to undertake relevant, high quality research in the area of Veterinary Physiology.
For appointment at the Lecturer level, in addition to the above, you should have; evidence of contributions to the teaching effort of a school in Veterinary Physiology at the tertiary level; a record of research based publication and evidence of the ability to attract research funding; and, experience with supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
For appointment at the Senior Lecturer Level, in addition to the above, you should have a strong publication track record in peer reviewed international journals.
Qualifications in Veterinary Science acceptable for registration in South Australia and familiarity with tertiary level curriculum development and administration are desirable.
Salary: (Level A) $51,260 - $69, 563, (Level B) $73,228 - $86,960 per annum or (Level C) $89,700 - $103,436 per annum (AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS) plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17%.
This tenurable position is available from 1 April, 2010.
