Faculty Positions in Physiology, Physiology/Endocrinology and Pharmacology/Toxicology

The Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health (CVMNAH), invites applications for three positions in the following areas: 1) Physiology; 2) Physiology/Endocrinology; and, 3) Pharmacology/Toxicology.
These are full-time, 12-month, tenure-leading appointments, at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor.
The appointments are to commence effective June 1, 2010 when the position vacancies become available.

Physiology: Each applicant should have DVM or equivalent degree and a Ph.D. in Physiology or closely related discipline. Preference will be given to the candidate with relevant experience. Each applicant should be capable of teaching sections in Physiology courses. Duties include teaching Physiology courses to students in Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health. The successful candidate should be capable of teaching at least 4 organ systems in Veterinary Physiology courses, including Cardiovascular Physiology. Primary responsibility will include teaching a 2-semester, team-taught Physiology course in the Veterinary professional curriculum and participation in teaching a Physiology course in Nursing and Allied Health programs. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a strong, independent or collaborative research program in his/her area of interest and be involved in graduate programs of the College.
Physiology/Endocrinology: Each applicant should possess DVM or equivalent degree and a Ph.D. in Physiology or closely related discipline. Interested applicants should be capable of teaching at least 2 organ systems in Physiology, including Endocrine and Reproductive System. Primary responsibility will include teaching a 2-credit hour Endocrinology course and participation in a 2-semester, team-taught Physiology course in the Veterinary professional curriculum. In addition, the individual will be involved in teaching a Physiology course in Nursing and Allied Health programs. The successful applicant is also expected to be involved in graduate programs of the College.
Pharmacology/Toxicology: Each applicant should have a DVM or equivalent degree and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology or closely related discipline. Applicants should be capable of teaching sections in Pharmacology and Toxicology courses. Primary responsibility will include teaching a 2-semester, team-taught Pharmacology course and a 1-semester Toxicology course in the Veterinary professional curriculum and participation in teaching a Pharmacology course in Nursing program. The successful applicant is expected to develop a Clinical Pharmacology course for Veterinary students. Prior experience in Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics research is preferred.
Selected candidates will be expected to be the primary instructors in the area of their specialization to teach courses in Veterinary, Nursing and Allied Health programs, as described above.
All positions require demonstrated teaching experience/competency and documented research record/potential, to develop a strong, independent or collaborative research program in their areas of interest, supported by extramural funds.
The appointees should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and willingness/ability to work cooperatively with others in a collegial, team-oriented environment.
Salary and rank are negotiable and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
