Position Summary
The Division of Cardiology’s research group seeks a highly-motivated Research Technician I to engage in experiments aimed at understanding the mechanisms regulating stem cell mediated cardiac regeneration and immunomodulation. Research will encompass isolation of primary cardiac cells, stem cell culture, lentiviral methods, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell and exosome transplantation, histological techniques, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and working with mouse models of myocardial infarction.

Our laboratory is focused on the development of therapeutic applications for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Experience is necessary with small animal handling. Following appropriate training, he/she will perform LAD ligations to create mouse models of myocardial infarction and ischemia/reperfusion. Analysis of animal models will include histological analysis, including immunohistochemical and in-situ hybridization-based techniques. Additional responsibilities will include culture of primary cells, exosome isolation and characterization, western blot and qPCR analysis. He/she will be also responsible for routine work direction and the training of assigned students in the lab. Applicant should be comfortable with utilizing Microsoft Excel and take responsibility of drafting IACUC animal protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree and at least 1-year of hands-on experience working in a cell laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with major course work in field of assignment (cell and molecular biology) and prior experience in cell culture, molecular biology and small animal surgery.
