The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (VMCVM), Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences invites applications from energetic, qualified individuals for an endowed Professorship in Small Animal Theriogenology. This is a full-time, calendar year, tenure-track faculty position for the O’Brien Professorship. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in theriogenology based research and ideally have broad clinical experience in canine theriogenology. Qualified applicants will be expected to undertake applied and/or clinical research in canine theriogenology. Approximately 30-50% of the faculty assignment will be dedicated to research. The endowment will support research in canine theriogenology and the successful applicant will be expected to develop an externally funded research portfolio and to mentor graduate students in that discipline area. The appointee will also participate in the instruction of theriogenology to DVM students and attending to theriogenology cases in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg. The current caseload has a strong emphasis in small animal and bovine cases, but actively see other large animal species. The appointee will also share in provision of after-hours on-call and clinic duty with two other board certified theriogenologists. The successful applicant will provide a significant contribution to the residency training program in comparative theriogenology. Salary and rank will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Occasional travel may be required.
The VMCVM has three campuses: Blacksburg, VA at Virginia Tech, Leesburg, VA at Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center, and College Park MD at University of Maryland.
-Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree. Employer will accept degree that is equivalent to DVM or foreign equivalent of DVM.
-A higher research focused degree (MS/PhD) is required.
-Diplomate status in the American College of Theriogenologists or European College of Animal Reproduction is preferred; however, appropriately qualified board eligible candidates will be considered.
