Tenure-Track or Clinical Track Associate/Full Professor of Equine Surgery.
The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine University of Tennessee is seeking applications for a tenure track or clinical track equine surgery position at the associate / full professor level. Requirements include a DVM, VMD degree or its equivalent and be ACVS/ECVS board certified. An advanced degree with a research interest is desirable. Responsibilities include clinic service, didactic and clinical teaching of students and house officers, research or scholarly activities, outreach, and governance. Tenure track faculty are expected to establish a sustainable, funded research program. Clinical track faculty are expected to develop scholarship leading to peer-reviewed publication. The successful applicant will join two other equine surgical faculty on the service. The full-service hospital for large animals provides primary, referral, and emergency care. Emergency duty is split between an emergency clinician and the clinical faculty. Diagnostic capabilities include nuclear imaging, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy c-arm, dynamic and stationary video endoscopy, thermography, and ultrasonography, lameness diagnostic facilities, indoor arena, and Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center. The hospital has a new, state of the art and fully equipped surgical facility, including arthroscopic and laparoscopic capabilities and diode laser.
