The Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications from qualified individuals for a one-year term faculty position in Large Animal Internal Medicine at Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching undergraduate and graduate students in both classroom and clinical settings. Clinical duties will be assigned within the Veterinary Medical Centre’s Large Animal Internal Medicine service and will include both equine and food and fiber patients. After hours emergency duties will be shared with other clinicians.

The WCVM is western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine. It is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group on the university campus, with access to facilities including the PET-CT, Canadian Light Source and the Biomedical Beamline and Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences. The Veterinary Medical Centre at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine is a state-of-the-art facility serving western Canada as an AVMA and AAHA accredited hospital and referral centre. The advanced imaging equipment includes a 320 detector row Toshiba Aquilion One CT scanner, Millennium MPR/MPS Gamma Camera with Genie AcQ software, Philips BV Pulsera C-arm Fluoroscope, 2 Toshiba Aplio 300 and Philips iU22 ultrasound machines with multiple probes, 4 Sound DR systems. MRI technology includes in-house Siemens Harmony 1.5 Tesla MRI and standing equine MRI in the Ryan-Dube Equine Performance Centre which also has a high speed treadmill and an over-the-ground endoscope.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) and be eligible to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan and must have diplomate status or credentials acceptable to the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM) at the time appointment takes effect. Previous academic experience is desirable and a post-graduate research degree is preferred. Familiarity with both equine and food animal practice is essential and candidates with experience and enthusiasm for equine medicine are preferred. Applicants must have a proven commitment to high quality teaching and research. Applicants should have demonstrated an ability to succeed in a collaborative research and teaching environment. Excellent communication skills and teaching experience are required.

Salary bands for this position are as follows:
Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925; and Professor $130,925 to $152,877.
