Veterinary Medicine - General Animal Sciences
The Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences (ADVS) at Utah State University (USU) is seeking applicants for a 9-month (academic year) or 12-month (calendar year) tenure-track faculty position in Production Animal Agriculture. The successful candidate will contribute to the Teaching (65%); Research or Clinical Veterinary Service (30%); and Service (5%) missions of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS) at USU. The preferred candidate will have an interest and expertise in small ruminant (i.e., sheep and goat) production agriculture. Teaching responsibilities will include both lower-division (e.g., ADVS 1110 Introduction to Animal Science, etc.) and upper-division (e.g., ADVS 4920 Undergraduate Seminar; ADVS 5090 Sheep Management and Wool Technology; etc.) courses in the ADVS undergraduate curriculum. In addition to classroom instruction, the incumbent will be expected to provide hands-on learning opportunities for students at our USU farm units and/or privately-owned farms/ranches. The area of research will be determined by the incumbent’s area(s) of expertise, and there are numerous opportunities for collaboration with other faculty members in ADVS.
Earned Ph.D. degree and/or DVM (or equivalent) degree in animal agriculture or related field.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.
Demonstrated collegiate teaching experience.
Demonstrated experience and expertise with small ruminant production agriculture.
Understanding of food animal production agriculture and related agricultural practices in the Intermountain West.
Additional Qualifications for Rank of Associate Professor:
Established academic teaching record and evidence teaching excellence.
Established record of research productivity with a strong publication record and evidence of successful grantsmanship.
