Associate/Full Professor of Veterinary Orthopedics (Tenure Track Position)

Required qualifications: DVM/VMD degree or equivalent; advanced training in research; documented independent funding and research in veterinary orthopedics; experience and publications in biomechanics; demonstrated aptitude and experience in teaching.
Preferred qualifications: PhD or equivalent degree; board certification in a veterinary specialty; relationship with the horse racing and/or performance horse industries; experience in gait analysis; documented lab management skills.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
Research: Documentation of a creative, focused and productive basic and clinically-oriented research program in veterinary orthopedics is a fundamental and indispensable requirement of the position, including publication of results in professional/scientific journals. Individual will provide leadership in directing orthopedic research across species.

Teaching: Responsibilities include: 1) participation in lectures, discussion sessions and laboratories in the DVM professional curriculum in the area of functional musculoskeletal anatomy/biomechanics; 2) participation and mentorship in the graduate academic programs (MS and PhD) of the campus; and 3) mentorship of clinical graduate students (residents) in research and/or participation in the graduate clinical training program if applicable. The position does not include a clinical effort assignment in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.

Service: University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means is expected.
