Lecturer, Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences

The Department of Agriculture, Veterinary and Rangeland Sciences at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position starting January 2020. Teaching responsibilities include instruction in both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses and assistance with laboratory sections associated with required courses for the Agricultural and Veterinary Science majors. Applicants should demonstrate strong evidence of effective teaching, curriculum development, and advising of undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds. The candidate must be able to work in a multi-cultural setting and create an environment that fosters collegiality, diversity and teamwork while contributing to our institutional and departmental missions.
Teaching and Outreach responsibilities include: 1) teaching one or two undergraduate courses per semester; 2) set-up and instruction of laboratory courses and supervision of Teaching Assistants; and 3) providing service to the program and department.
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the field of physiologic or anatomical research or a related field. Two or more years of experience teaching anatomy/physiology courses that include a laboratory. Demonstrated potential for effectiveness in teaching including a strong desire to work with and supervise undergraduate students. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary department of professionals. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with experience teaching clinical or veterinary based courses (2 or more years) are preferred. Applicants with knowledge of Nevada’s animal production systems and veterinary science needs are also preferred.
