The Faculté de médecine vétérinaire (FMV) of the Université de Montréal is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Professor in experimental bioimaging applied to animal models of infectious diseases. The FMV is located in Saint-Hyacinthe, the agricultural capital of Quebec with 57 000 inhabitants. The FMV is located 60 km (37 miles) from Montreal, a vibrant city with an international airport and excellent flight connections to Europe and the USA. The FMV is also within easy reach of the beautiful, historic Quebec City and Ottawa, the capital of Canada. The FMV is located off campus, but maintains strong collaborative ties to other faculties at the Université de Montréal and other universities within the province. A structured mentorship program is available for newly hired professors.

The candidate will lead an innovative and independent research program and obtain research grants from external organizations, using a modern strategy, more particularly in vivo bio-imaging techniques (fluorescence, bioluminescence, x-rays, etc.) in order to study the dynamics of infection, to discover and validate new approaches for the diagnosis of infectious diseases; or in other applications in the field of infectious diseases of animals. His/her research fields will focus primarily on pathogens causing diseases in production animals. However, interdisciplinary collaborations will be encouraged. The candidate will coordinate the experimental bio-imaging platform at the FMV and will also have access to the Réseau de bio-imagerie du Québec (Québec Bio-Imaging network).
