Description
As part of a diverse community representing many faiths and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Clinical Instructor of Veterinary Nursing who’ll work closely with the Program Director of Veterinary Nursing and the Academic Dean. The Clinical Instructor of Veterinary Nursing promotes Marian University’s Ancilla College Franciscan mission and identity by providing a warm and welcoming environment for the University. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction, mentorship, and clinical training to veterinary nursing students, preparing them for successful careers in veterinary medicine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
Deliver engaging lectures, hands-on labs, and clinical instruction in various veterinary nursing subjects.
Develop and implement course materials, assessments, and practical exercises that align with program objectives.
Oversee and mentor students during clinical courses, ensuring they gain practical experience in veterinary practice.
Provide constructive feedback on student performance and facilitate skill development.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the curriculum, ensuring it meets current industry standards and best practices.
Participate in program assessment and accreditation processes.
Advise and support students in their academic and professional development.
Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.
Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and veterinary nursing practices.
Participate in continuing education, workshops, and professional organizations.
Engage in community outreach programs to promote veterinary nursing and animal welfare.
Oversee animal resources and obtain animals needed for skills labs.
Expected to attend, engage and support faculty meetings, advisor training, New Student Orientations (NSO), Family Weekend,
Campus retreats, Professional Development, and other campus opportunity, and our students.
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
AAS in Veterinary Technology/Nursing from an AVMA Accredited Program
Current veterinary licensure and certification in the state of Indiana.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in veterinary medicine, with a focus on companion animal care.
Previous teaching or mentoring experience in a veterinary or nursing program is preferred.
Strong Communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Commitment to student success and a passion for education in veterinary nursing.
Excellent problem-solving skills and effective follow-through of all delegated tasks
Exhibit professionalism and high ethical standards for maintaining confidential information
Ability to work independently as well as in teams
