Salary: Commensurate with applicant’s experience and qualifications.

Requirements: The successful candidate must have a DVM degree (or equivalent) and have achieved ACVECC board-certification or have completed residency training and have credentials accepted by ACVECC by the start date of the position. Preference will be given to candidates with ACVECC certification, advanced degree(s), a track record in scholarship, or prior research training.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical services in veterinary small animal emergency and critical care (SAECC), and contribute to clinical instruction of residents, interns and veterinary students, and communicate effectively with clients and referring veterinarians. Teaching responsibilities will also include didactic, small group and laboratory instruction of veterinary and graduate students. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in clinically relevant or basic research projects.

The University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a full-time facility with rapidly growing emergency and critical care services. The SAECC service is looking for a fifth faculty to join our 3-small animal criticalists and a 1-large animal criticalist. The SAECC service has 18 full-time certified veterinary technicians, 3 ACVECC residents, 1 SAECC intern, and 9 rotating interns. The SAECC service has a NOVA stat CC express, a Puritan Bennett ventilator, and access to advanced coagulation technology (TEG, thrombinoscope, platelet aggregation). In addition, on-site services include cardiology, ophthalmology, dentistry, medical and radiation oncology, neurology, diagnostic imaging (including CT, and 3T-MRI), internal medicine, surgery (soft-tissue, oncologic and orthopedic), clinical pathology and diagnostic pathology. Percent time dedicated to teaching, scholarly activities, and clinical service will be based on the successful candidate’s appointment.
