The Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health combines four important areas of expertise within Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. These are public/population health, international medicine, wildlife and conservation medicine and infectious disease research. The alignment of these areas promotes cross-disciplinary strengths that are important in achieving the department’s goal of improving human, animal and ecosystem health locally, nationally and internationally. Much of the research in the Department aims to advance understanding of the biology and host interaction of pathogens, particularly those causing enteric disease, and to use this information to develop immunotherapy and vaccines against the pathogens.

The position involves working in a research laboratory, in the specialized facility, and at the computer recording, processing, and analyzing data. The candidate will be expected to help design and execute experiments involving mostly investigations on development of immune reagents intended for use in research for SARS CoV-2 infections. The work will also require working in BSL3 facility. The expectation is that the candidate will have communication skills, be highly self-motivated, and will be encouraged to be resourceful and a team player. The position requires 5-8 years of postdoctoral/research experience in infectious diseases including virology, molecular genetics, monoclonal antibody production and immunology. Experience working in BSL3 environment, handling various models and some project management, will be an advantage.Ba

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

5+years of postdoctoral experience in virology and immunology. Masters degree required, DVM/PhD preferred, with experience with in vitro and in vivo relating to molecular genetics, cell biology and deep knowledge of infectious disease including virology/immunology. Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and biostatistics. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation. Valid US drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Molecular genetics and cell biology relating to Immunology and virology laboratory skills are essential. Experience working with BSL3 agents preferred. DVM/PhD preferred, with experience with in vitro and in vivo relating to molecular genetics, cell biology and deep knowledge of infectious disease including virology/immunology. Project management experience preferred.
