The Tufts Veterinary Field Service (TVFS) invites applications for a primary clinical position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in equine ambulatory medicine and surgery. Tufts Veterinary Field Service in Woodstock, CT is a 10 veterinarian practice that serves as a clinical and teaching unit of Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in North Grafton, MA. We are the largest large animal field service in the Northeast.

Tufts Veterinary Field Service has a highly motivated client base with a wide variety of disciplines and breeds. A fully-stocked vehicle will be provided. Specialized equipment available includes digital radiography, diagnostic ultrasound, 3-meter endoscopy, and Lameness Locator®. A haul-in with stocks is available at the clinic in Woodstock, CT and easy referral for complete inpatient medical and surgical care is available at Tufts Hospital for Large Animals in Grafton, MA. In addition to horses, TVFS also cares for dairy cows, small ruminants and other livestock.

The successful candidate will hold a DVM or equivalent degree, and be an experienced equine practitioner proficient in lameness and general practice skills. In addition to clinical expertise and excellent client communication skills, the successful candidate will also demonstrate enthusiasm for clinical, laboratory and didactic veterinary student education. While this is primarily a clinical service position, participation in available scholarship opportunities such as clinical, collaborative and independent research is strongly encouraged. The service/academic percentage is 75%/25%. Rotational participation in the emergency call schedule for all species seen at TVFS is required and mentorship and guidance will be provided as needed for non-equine species. The ability to become licensed in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island and achieve federal and state accreditation is required.

Preferred: Board certification or eligibility in a relevant specialty (ABVP, ACVIM, ACVS, ACVMSR) or significant experience in equine sports medicine.
