The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman, Washington invites applications from self-directed, motivated individuals to join WSU in a unique teaching position based in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology. The position is to be filled at a full-time clinical-track Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The requisite responsibility of the position will be to oversee and continue to develop Diagnostic Challenges (https://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/innovative-education/DC), a prestigious case-based learning experience for second-year students in the professional DVM curriculum. The Diagnostic Challenge modality is executed with the support of an administrative assistant. The secondary component of the position will be to contribute to the department’s didactic teaching mission in the professional DVM curriculum in one or more of the following disciplines: Immunology, Systemic Pathology, General Pathology, Parasitology or Virology. Additionally, the duties will include scholarly activity including development and publication of manuscripts or reports appropriate to the position and academic/committee service at the department, college or discipline level. The effort distribution in these areas is expected to be 20% (Diagnostic Challenge modality), 20-30% (didactic teaching) and 15% (service/scholarly activity). The remainder of the position (35-45%) is flexible to suit the interests/specialization of the applicant and may be comprised of a) veterinary diagnostic specialty service through the WADDL, b) additional teaching responsibilities, c) scholarly activity in teaching pedagogy, or other academic activities. The successful candidate will be expected to enunciate the combination of duties that best fit their interests within the broad outline indicated above.
