(1) Academic- Track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor faculty position in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging – Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University
Requirements include a DVM degree or its equivalent and completion of an American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) residency. Preference will be given to individuals who are ACVR or ECVDI board certified. However, board eligible candidates are most welcome to apply. Rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience. Strengths are required in teaching, research, and clinical service. Excellent opportunities exist to build clinical and translational research collaborations with researchers on all three campuses of Tufts University, within the New England medical community, and beyond. These positions allow for external consultation activities subject to University policyThe successful candidate will join 4 other radiologists and 6 residents in the Diagnostic Imaging service, which operates within the Foster Hospital for Small Animals and serves the Hospital for Large Animals.
Both hospitals are in North Grafton, MA and are part of Cummings Veterinary Medical Center, which serves the New England region. Clinical responsibilities include supervision of the service, instruction of clinical-year students, and supervision of interns and residents in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging, primary case management, and oversight of patients. Enthusiasm for teaching is a requirement for this position and additional responsibilities include didactic teaching and participation in preclinical labs. Time is allotted to take advantage of the collaborative environment for clinical and basic research, and all scholarly activity is valued in the school’s promotions process. A Clinical Trials Office operates at the School and is available for support and consultation.
The newly renovated Diagnostic Imaging service, one of the busiest in the country, features one MRI suite equipped with a 1.5 T Siemens unit and a CT suite equipped with a multi slice Toshiba Aquilon CT both catering to large and small animal patients. The section is also equipped with three DR/CR small animal radiology suites, one DR large animal radiology room and one nuclear medicine suite. Three ultrasound rooms equipped with two Phillip and one Toshiba units with several high frequency transducers cater to the small animal hospital while one additional Toshiba unit serves a busy large animal case load. An active multidisciplinary interventional team also uses a GE 9800 C-arm. The Section manages its digital database with Carestream PACS V.12 software. The Diagnostic Imaging section is also well recognized for its strong residency program approved by the ACVR and the ECVDI.
