The Laboratory for Equine and Comparative Orthopedic Research (LECOR) has openings for graduate students working toward the PhD degree. The focus of the laboratory is comparative, translational research for the treatment and diagnosis of orthopedic pathology associated with aging, trauma, or development. Evaluation techniques include cellular molecular, genetic (RNA and DNA) and compositional analysis, histology, cell culture, biomechanical testing, kinetics, and kinematics. Additionally, design and implementation of medical devices is a key function in the laboratory. Acceptance as a graduate student at Louisiana State University in the department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences is required.
