Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University is seeking a DVM/MPH pathway leader for its dual DVM/MPH program offered in conjunction with the Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM). The DVM/MPH pathway leader is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the program with the Director of the MPH program at TUSM. This is a 2-year term appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Public Health in the Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health, with the possibility of extension.
Teaching responsibilities for the DVM/MPH program include directing and teaching in the Global Health course, directing and teaching the Public Health Integration course for all the DVM/MPH students, teaching and assisting with the Legal Basis of Veterinary Public Health course for the second year DVM/MPH students, teaching and assisting with the Public Health Field Experience (PHFE) planning and implementation and the Applied Learning Experience (ALE) for DVM/MPH students. In addition, they will also serve as the faculty advisor for all the DVM/MPH students. This requires a minimum of 50% effort.
In addition, the successful candidate will teach Introduction to Public Health in the DVM program and contribute to related courses in our course-based Masters programs. Opportunities for independent and collaborative research in the Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health and across Tufts University exist. Approximately ten percent of effort is required to school and university administrative service.
Applicants must hold DVM (or equivalent) and MPH degrees from an accredited program. A PhD is considered an asset. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring in an academic setting is desirable.
The position is available to start July 1 or as soon thereafter as possible. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a benefits package.
