Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. Since 1985, we have offered high quality medical care, consultation, referral, and emergency veterinary services for the care of dogs, cats, and exotic pets. The hospital offers a positive learning experience for Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University students, technicians, residents, interns and support staff regarding small animal medicine and specialty services.

 

 


What You'll Do

The Veterinary Technician is a key member of an integrated clinical care team to provide high quality diagnostic imaging services to inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency patients in both the Small and Large Animal Hospitals.


What We're Looking For

This position requires:

  • Background in Veterinary Technology - high school diploma (or the equivalent) with knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging in a veterinary setting, particularly small animal radiography and ultrasound.
  • Excellent small animal handling and restraint skills are preferred. Large animal and exotic animal handling skills are also highly desirable.
  • Ability to effectively work as a member of a diverse team of clinical and administrative professionals. Incumbents must be self-motivated, flexible, organized, and cooperative with a strong interest and effort directed towards the success of the entire team.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to learn the electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
  • Clean and maintain clinical areas including x-ray (large and small), ultrasound, CT, MRI and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
  • The schedule for this position requires flexibility to ensure that adequate patient care is provided without interruption or exception.
  • This position is considered essential and is therefore required to report to work as scheduled during emergency closings.
