The Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health combines four important areas of expertise within Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. These are public/population health, international medicine, wildlife and conservation medicine and infectious disease research. The alignment of these areas promotes cross-disciplinary strengths that are important in achieving the department’s goal of improving human, animal and ecosystem health locally, nationally and internationally. Much of the research in the Department aims to advance understanding of the biology and host interaction of pathogens, particularly those causing enteric disease, and to use this information to develop immunotherapy and vaccines against the pathogens.

The position involves working in a research laboratory, in the animal facility, and at the computer recording, processing, and analyzing data. The candidate will be expected to help design and execute experiments involving mostly investigations on SARS CoV-2 infections in animal models which will require working in BSL3 facility. The expectation is that the candidate will have excellent communication skills, organizational skills, be highly self-motivated, and will be encouraged to be resourceful and a team player. The position requires 5-8 years of postdoctoral experience in virology and immunology. Experience working in BSL3 environment, handling animal models and some project management, will be an advantage.


Basic Requirements:

5 + years of postdoctoral experience in virology and immunology. DVM/PhD with experience with in vitro and in vivo relating to virology/immunology. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Valid US Drivers License. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Immunology and/or virology laboratory skills essential. Experience working with BSL3 agents preferred. Prior use of animal models essential. Project management experience preferred.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

Some brief evening and weekend work may be requested where it can be accommodated.
