  • Veterinary Dermatology Clinical Instructor
    Small Animal Clinical Sciences, Western College of Veterinary Medicine

    Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a 2-year term instructor position (with potential for renewal) in Dermatology in the department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences beginning July 1, 2024.  The successful applicant must have a proven interest in dermatology and a passion for veterinary medicine and a keen interest in coaching veterinary students for success in veterinary practice.  For 75% of the time, this individual will deliver clinical veterinary care within the Dermatology service with some assigned duty on the Primary and Preventative Care service.  This position will have a 75% clinical commitment and 25% formal teaching commitment.  In collaboration with an ACVD certified dermatologist, this veterinarian will ensure the development of a positive and vibrant team-based clinical service with excellence in client service. They will contribute to building of a healthy and diverse caseload for clinical learning.   They will coach veterinary students as they develop competence and confidence in the key elements of the framework for competency based veterinary education.  They will work to incorporate recent veterinary medical evidence-based advances and enhance the skills of undergraduates and technical staff.  They must be a strong team player and be able to communicate and collaborate professionally with people of diverse backgrounds.


    The Veterinary Medical Centre at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine is currently a state-of-the-art facility AVMA and AAHA accredited primary care and referral hospital serving western Canada.   Specialty services and undergraduate and graduate training are offered in anesthesia, dentistry, dermatology, exotics and wildlife, internal medicine, medical imaging, nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology and surgery.  Advanced imaging modalities such as PET-CT, MRI, CT, linear accelerator, fluoroscopy, and nuclear scintigraphy are available on site.     Qualified candidates must have a DVM degree or its equivalent and be eligible for general licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan.  The successful candidate must have a minimum of two years’ experience in small animal general practice.   An advanced degree and/or advanced training are desirable.

    Salary bands for this position for the 2023-24 academic year are under negotiation but currently are as follows and varies with experience and qualifications:

    Clinical Instructor: $66,355 – 106,668
