He has been involved in research in the field of molecular epidemiology and test development for of viral diseases in wide range of animals with focus on avian Influenza, Newcastle Disease, Bovine Viral Disease, Border Disease, Bovine leucosis and the Herpesviral infection in cattle, horses, and sheep.
Over the last 15 years, Farhid has utilized molecular biological techniques such as SDS-PAGE, immunoaffinity purification, monoclonal antibody, designing of ELISA, immunisation, Southern, Northern and dot-blotting, primer extension, site-directed mutagenesis, PCR, Real time PCR and HRM analysis, sequencing, cloning, gene expression and purification of the fusion proteins, cell culture and virus isolation, phage display and cDNA library, recombinant monoclonal antibodies together with bioinformatics methods in his research projects
