The Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL) in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the UC Davis is seeking a full-time Academic Administrator in the role of Associate Director of Research and Test Development. This position will oversee a team of scientists and contribute expertise to expand the VGL’s testing portfolio, ensure the VGL is offering state of the art genetic testing services across species while meeting the unit’s mission and goals, and maintain the VGL’s international reputation as experts in DNA testing.

The Academic Administrator, in the role of Associate Director of Research and Test Development at the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory, oversees a team of scientists, contributes expertise to expand the VGL’s testing portfolio, ensures the VGL is offering state of the art genetic testing services across species while meeting the unit’s mission and goals, and maintains the VGL’s international reputation as experts in DNA testing. The position oversees a complex unit with a substantial amount of independence, and duties involve working closely or jointly with faculty and staff.

The Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL) is a self-supporting unit of the School of Veterinary Medicine that performs DNA testing services, research, education and outreach for animal breed organizations, individual clients, and clinicians that advances animal breeding and health. The VGL works collaboratively with other academic departments at the School of Veterinary Medicine, across campus, and globally.
