    Job Description Summary


    The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences at Auburn University is seeking candidates for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work both independently and as part of a team to investigate warmwater fish diseases and the fish immune response to bacterial pathogens. This position is located at the E.W. Shell Fisheries Research Station of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. The selected individual will be expected to assist with a research program investigating co-infective bacterial pathogens and will conduct experimentation involving in vivo pathogen challenge trials. Bench trials investigating growth mechanics or physiological changes will also be incorporated. They will work alongside project collaborators at AU, present findings at professional meetings, publish manuscripts in scientific journals and help prepare proposals for additional extramural funding of the research program. This is a benefit eligible, non-tenure track position. The appointment is for an initial period of one year with a possibility of continuance up to a maximum of four years, depending on performance and funding availability.

    Minimum Qualifications


    The minimum qualification is an earned Ph.D. in Aquaculture (Fish Health), Microbiology, or a closely related field at the time employment begins. The individual selected for the position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States by the start date and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Additionally, the individual must have reliable transportation.

    Desired Qualifications


    Desirable areas of expertise and experience include the use of proteomics, transcriptomics, fish immunology, experience with analyzing data sets, and experience with manuscript preparation and publication.
